NICE clinical guideline 88:
Low back pain
[PDF 200Kb]

MJB Physio has always used evidence based treatments with its clients. These guidelines, published 27th May 2009, support the effectiveness of Acupuncture in the treatment of back pain.

Relieving pain with Acupuncture therapy

Acupuncture is recognised as originating in the east. The placing of thin needles in specific points on the body has for a long time been used to relieve pain.

MJB Physio uses traditional and western acupuncture in combination with other physiotherapy techniques to provide a truly holistic treatment plan to promote your body's own natural healing process.

Acupuncture can also increase energy levels and achieve improved relaxation of muscle tissue and has recently been included in NICE guidelines for the treatment of back pain.

Acupuncture is available at both Selby and Shelburn clinics

Relieving pain through acupuncture

Acupuncture helps to relieve muscle spasm, deactivate trigger points and desensitise the nervous system, but is more appropriate in acute injury or where manipulation is contraindicated.

Acupuncture is supported by NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence), contact MJB Physio to discuss how Acupuncture can help you.
